Current status: Zine closed!

Welcome! Beyond Time has now come to an end.Thank you so much for your support throughout this project, and for helping contribute to a good cause. We hope you continue to love our Seijoh boys <3

ABOUTThis is a SFW, for-charity, yōkai themed zine focussed on the team of Aoba Johsai! The word 'yōkai' is a Japanese word used to refer to supernatural monsters, spirits, and demons from Japanese folklore. The kanji for yōkai (妖怪) means bewitching, attractive, calamity; and spectre, apparition, mystery, suspicious. This zine aims to explore the liminality and aspects of ambiguity between the past, present, and future.Much like the person you'd see at an airport and never quite forget, by taking the creatures from Japanese folklore and combining them with Seijoh, this zine will bring beautiful boys and beautiful vibes! It will also revolve around the idea of urban/contemporary fantasy, as well as human + yōkai interactions. This zine will look at the connections and contrast between tradition and modernity, as exemplified through the use of folklore in conjunction with contemporary fantasy.

FAQWhat is a zine?
A fanzine, or zine for short, is a term used to describe an unofficial, fanmade publication, which can be both digital or physical. Zines often contain a mix of artworks, writing, and merchandise for a specific fandom.
Will this zine be digital or physical?
Both!
Will this be for-profit, for-charity, or free?
For-charity! We will be supporting Doctors Without Borders.
Will all the Seijoh characters be included?
That depends on what the contributors are willing to create. Of course it would be great to include everyone, however it's rather unreasonable to limit and/or reject ideas just for the sake of inclusiveness or variety. There are also three Seijoh characters who were only featured in a bonus story, and they will not be included in this zine.
How will contributors get compensated?
All contributors will get a free copy of the PDF, and all efforts will be made to ensure that they can receive a full bundle (or at least the physical book) free of charge. As this is a charity zine, the charity will be prioritised.
Who can contribute?
I'd prefer to work with an older age group (17+) with the mod team, and certain mods (such as finance, shipping) have to be 18+ for obvious reasons, however anyone can apply to be a contributor, minors included!
Can I apply for multiple positions?
Yes, of course! You will only be accepted for one though. The exception is for mods, who may also apply to contribute if they wish, provided that they promise to stay on top of their duties! The cover artist may also choose to create another piece for the zine.
How many contributors are you looking for?
As of now, it looks like 21 artists, 6 writers, 4 merch artists. We may accept more/less depending on the applicants!

GENERAL GUIDELINESHow should I interpret the theme? And can I feature other teams/characters?
As long as a Seijoh character/s is the main focus, and the theme of yōkai and/or Japanese folklore is visibly incorporated somehow, feel free to create whatever you see fit! It is preferred that other teams are not included, but if you would like to, then their presence should be kept to a minimum!
For artists especially, it would be cool to have a modern twist to your work/s, such as:
- Urban setting
- Casual clothes/streetwear
- Modern-day stores
Ideas can include, but isn't limited to:
- The Seijoh boys as yōkai
- The Seijoh boys interacting with yōkai
- Re-imagining/taking inspiration from the tales from Japanese folklore
Whilst this zine's brand suggests it purely revolves around yōkai, please don't feel limited by that theme! We are aware that contributors and supporters may like to see certain folklores which do not have yōkai, but rather deities etc. being reimagined, thus we are also open to Japanese folklore and deities!MOD GUIDELINES

When I’m not drawing, I’m probably thinking about all sorts of projects I want to do but will never get to.
